I use firefox too, and ever since we switched over to the new server(?) the shout box has worked fine. Before every now and then it would take a long time to reach the shout box when posting there.

the problem before with the shoutbox mack is it is very server intensive. I.E. it uses a lot of cpu. Before we were very limited in resources but now we have our own it should work pretty well
