Default Currency

Since the Thai banks are charging to with draw cash from an ATM.

Taking money out of an ATM seems an expensive way even with a Nationwide Debit card it is 150bht +1% of the amount taken out and they are one of the cheaper companies.

My next trip I plan to take some cash and the rest in travellers cheques and take my card just in case.

http://www.travelex.co.uk/uk/ is the company i will be using to get comission free sterling travellers cheques.

Is this the most cost effective way?????

I would rather spend my money on having fun .

got some baht at marks and spencers and got nearly 51 to the pound ..
free travellers cheques would probably mean less of an exchange rate nothing is for free but good deal for you if its same rate

My advice? Take the bulk of your spends in Bank of England notes, you will get a better rate in Pattaya.

Best exchange rate in the UK at the moment is this lot, I used them for my last trip and they were spot on, next day delivery, free, registered mail.

They are sterling travellers cheques which I can get 1 for 1 .

I always change my pounds and cheques in Los as better rate than here.

Commission free travellers cheques a good deal. You'll pay one off fee of 30 baht + 3 baht per cheque at Thai exchange. Rate will be about half a baht per pound better than cash too.
