Help Needed

my mate on board ship has a HP Core Duo laptop which was working Ok with XP and Norton security, he loaded Macafee as well and now the machine will not load windows , we can access boot menu but windows freezes on boot up, we cannot delete the Macafee and thge machine is vitl for work, any one know how to proceed to get thes unit running again.
